WHY BARR. SUNDAY MARSHALL KATUNG IS THE MAN FOR THE SENATE JOB? The race for the Kaduna South Senatorial seat has always been a unique one. Unlike in other zones in the state, the PDP is the only party that has produced the district’s Senator since 1999, and there’s no sign this is going to change come 2023. This explains why the PDP primaries have always been tough and a delight to watch for political actors, keen observers and researchers alike. The 2022 senatorial primary, therefore, will surely be a tough one, especially following the declaration of Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung to run for the senate seat. As things stand, there is no gainsaying the fact that the candidate to beat is no other than Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung. His rich profile as a seasoned administrator, former Commissioner, and former member of the House of Representatives have combined to give him serious advantage over the others. SMK’s 4 Years in the Green Chamber: The choice of elected representatives at all levels is always a challenging task. At such times, one is faced with the difficult task of matching readiness with the capacity to deliver. In the case of the people of Jaba/Zangon Kataf Federal constituency, the choice of Barr Sunday Marshall Katung (popularly known as SMK) hugely paid off. When he was their representative, the Constituency had in him an absolute gentleman and lawmaker who served well and left his mark in the sands of time and annals of history of the area. His was the case of opportunity meeting preparedness. His capacity, level-headedness and confidence from colleagues and the house leadership, and his network of national and international friends have combined to enable him attracts projects to his Constituency even as a first-time Legislator. On his own, he also embarked on projects and programmes designed to empower, alleviate hunger, and enhance the health and socio-economic well-being of his constituents. As a worthy representative, Barr. SMK had caused, at different times, to present petitions and concerns of his constituents on the floor of the Green Chamber. Perhaps a few examples will suffice: On Thursday, November 19, 2015, Hon. SMK, concerned about the welfare of justice and fairness for his constituents, presented a motion for the Hon. House to investigate the compulsory termination of service of Mrs Elizabeth Awan by the Management of Diamond Bank. The Bank Terminated her services 24 days to her attaining 10 years of service thus denying her the usual terminal benefits she would have been entitled to. Similarly, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 Hon. SMK laid before the House another petition by former Staff of the Nigeria Breweries Kaduna – many of whom were from his constituency. They were made redundant in the year 2000 with their entitlements still unpaid. He appealed to the Hon House to investigate and compel the NBL to pay them their entitlements. On Thursday, January 28, 2016, Hon. SMK also went before the House with another petition from one of his constituents, Mr. Solomon David Kantiok. Mr. Kantiok was a former employee of Keystone Bank who was wrongfully suspended and whose employment was subsequently terminated without payment of his entitlements. This led to negotiations for an out of court settlement between the Bank and the petitioner with all the Petitioner’s prayers granted by the bank. On Thursday, March 10, 2016 Hon. SMK presented a petition to the House on behalf of Hon. Danladi Kwasu, a member of KDHA whose petition hinged on the fact that Hon. Danladi’s son, a cadet in the NDA, died out of negligence, hence wanted the House to investigate the matter to forestall future occurrences. On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, Hon. SMK moved a motion that the house received the report of the Bill for an act to establish the Nigeria Peace Corps (NPC) to empower, develop and provide alternative empowerment for the teeming unemployed youths in the country to facilitate peaceful community service, Nation Building and for other related matters. On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, Hon SMK, pursuant to order eight rule 4(3) moved a motion for the urgent intervention and investigation of the Tremors and Earthquake that occurred at Jaba Local Government, Kaduna State. On Thursday, December 1, 2016, Hon SMK moved another motion on the floor of the Green Chamber on the urgent need to revive the textile industries in Nigeria with particular reference to Kaduna/Kano axis. Of course as a proactive legislator Hon. SMK knew too well that if the Textile industries in Kaduna were back on stream as in the sixties & seventies, the people of Southern Kaduna in general & Jaba/Zangon Kataf will be major beneficiaries. Other motions/bills sponsored by SMK include: Urgent need to phase out Coal in our Energy Mix. Urgent need for the inclusion of Kaduna and Plateau States in the States affected by the Herdsmen-Farmers crisis that the subcommittee of the national economic council working group would visit for consultations. Urgent need for investigation into the loss of twenty-one billion dollars ($21,000,000,000) {N7.6 trillion equivalent) crude oil revenue to International Oil Companies (IOCS) Urgent need for investigation into the arbitrary deployment of men of the Nigerian Army to the five (5) States of the South-East to save Nigeria from Arbitrariness, Lawlessness and Anarchy. Need to investigate the contract for the upgrade of OML 58 upgrade 1, the execution of Obite-Rumuji (our) pipeline and the Northern option pipeline projects, following the joint operation agreement between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Total Exploration and Production in Nigeria. Ashiru is setting the media agenda in Kaduna State
For seven days now, Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru has been the most discussed topic across media platforms in Kaduna State. From his appearance at interactive session with the Jama’atul Nasirul-Islam, JNI, Kaduna State Chapter to the interface with the congress of the NLC, and then the parley with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Kaduna, the PDP governorship hopeful has given the opposition and indeed the public plenty to chew and to talk about.
In all those fora, Ashiru presented his 5-point agenda which bother on security, agriculture, healthcare, education, science and technology, and youths and women empowerment with aura and deftness of touch. He left no one in doubt about his plan to reunite the state, collaborate with religious-based and Traditional Institutions as well as the the youths in turning around the fortunes of the state.
He demonstrated great knowledge of the history state, promised fairness to all zones and LGAs and also a new leaf for rural dwellers, particularly the youths. His reference to training rural youths on raising/rearing the Kalahari goats (jajayen awakai) in commercial quantity targeting the Eastern (Igbo) region as the major market is cerebral.
Unfortunately, instead of praises, some members of the opposition APC, who either out of mischief or sheer ignorance resorted to making a caricature of his presentation. But to set the records straight, the demand for goat meat in Nigeria and the world has been the on the rise with even some of the countries considered to be advanced earning billions in foreign exchange from the export of goat and sheep meat. According to a report, in 2020, Australia exported $2.7B in Sheep and Goat Meat, making it the 1st largest exporter of Sheep and Goat Meat in the world. At the same year, Sheep and Goat Meat was the 9th most exported product in Australia. The main destination of Sheep and Goat Meat exports from Australia are: United States ($707M), China ($663M), United Arab Emirates ($143M), Malaysia ($136M), and Qatar ($133M).
In a state wrecked by 8 years of crass ineptitude in governance that culminated into abject poverty, bankruptcy (every citizen owing over 32,000 naira), worsening agriculture and rural neglect, training its rural farmers, especially youths innthe art of rearing goats and tapping into a virgin global market should receive commendation and not condemnation.
The teeming but poor rural population should not allow itself to be deceived by the agents of of a political party that has made poverty and hunger the new normal in Kaduna State.
In the face of the unbearable debt burden, dwindling federal allocation, and high unemployment rate, proposing livestock farming for rural dwellers among other agricultural and economic policies is certainly a great idea.
Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, mat your vision for the people of this state see the light of the day after the major of the people must have given you the mandate come March 12, 2023.
Without any iota of doubt, ashiru is coming!

Can Uba Sani deny that the dictatorship never demolished people’s homes and businesses premises without paying any compensation? b, Can he or will he deny the reckless and irresponsible sack of thousands of primary school teachers without paying their entitlements? c. Will Uba also deny the massive and senseless dismissal of many Traditional and Royal father’s in the face of increasing insecurity? d. Did the APC government in Kaduna State not increase tuition feed in tertiary institutions well beyond the reach of many poor parents after promising to provide quality education to the children of the.poor in the society? e. Did not the dictatorial APC leadership not deliberately and on purpose demolish the homes of their perceived political opponents? f. .Did the Hell Rufai dictatorship not seize and took over private lands without complying with the provisions of the Land Use Act? g. Were the lands so seized not allocated to friends, cronies and family members of the regime? h. .Did the dictatorship not Bantustanize Adara Chiefdom by creating enclaves to serve their whims and caprices? I. Did the dictatorship with help from this same Sen Uba Sani not obtain a $ 350 USD loan which was squandered in less than 5 of the 23 Local Council areas of our dear State? j. How and by what mechanism will Hell Rufai pay up the indebtedness to the hapless and traumatized workers including the families of those who have passed on? Dr John Ayuba yesterday met with the sabon tasha ward officials for a strategic meeting, the meeting which was held yesterday was targeted on how to bring the usual votes from the ward. It’s not longer news that the sabon tasha always produced the highest number of votes in chikun local government. Dr John Ayuba, our promised keeper leader in his usual efforts to ensure a smooth victory for the party met the leadership of the party, it was a smooth deliberation as all necessary steps have been put in place. The ward leaders thank Dr John Ayuba for the support and promised never to let him down.

When the kaduna state PDP governorship candidate Rt Hon Isah Ashiru Kudan picked Dr John Markus Ayuba as his running mate, many online trolls came out of the woodwork, claiming that, his decision to picked Dr John Ayuba considering Dr John Ayuba’s age is an attempt to show a lack of seriousness when it comes to winning the upcoming election……… Some claim that he Ashiru does not have the capacity to be a governor of the state.
We earlier thought it was a normal politics criticism. When we begin to suspect a game plan somewhere and started engaging them.
Months later, all of those critics have fallen silent and come febuary 25 and march 11 the people of southern kaduna will show even the doubters that Dr John Markus Ayuba is truly a native son of our greatest land southern kaduna.
Their game plan was to discourage the people of southern kaduna from voting the PDP, the only party that loves southern kaduna, the only party that from the deputy governor gave us the first chance to serve in the capacity of the state governor and hopefully the same thing will happen by the special grace of God.
They know APC are going nowhere, and only the PDP that has the capacity to win the election, they decide to use one of us to contest in a different party to devide our votes in order to give APC the chance to remain in power beyond 2023, and a judas among us accepted their offer, not minding the situation our people in the southern part of the state are facing, today in southern kaduna, somany villages are empty, many lives lost, houses burn, thousands of properties destroyed, thousands of our women, children and parents displaced, Asake know fully that he doesn’t have the capacity to win, he doesn’t have the network to win.
If you want to believe what we are saying that they are trying to use him to be able to win the election,
1, Instead of Asake and LP supporters to put a strong fight with the party in government which it’s their primary responsibility to save our people and their properties, no their major problem is the PDP, they embarked on insulting and calling any PDP supporters names, especially our highly respected elders from the region.
2, They embarked on using religion to campaign, asked them if truly they are doing to defend religion, why don’t they do a Christian-Christian ticket as APC did?
3, They are also using religion and tribalism, ok why don’t they picked an Atyap, Bajju, Jaba or any other tribe from the southern kaduna region as Asake’s deputy.
4, Why is it that, only Christians community is their stronghold for campaign especially southern kaduna instead of working hard to get more support?
5, Or can only Christians votes made him a governor?
Southern kaduna people must wake up, we have what i called the Judas of 2023 in our mist who are working hard to devide our votes in order to allow the most worst government in the history of our lives to continue not minding our situation.

Earlier today, the kaduna state PDP deputy governorship candidate, Dr John Markus Ayuba, Join his old boys, the ex-seminarians and St JOBA (Old boys association) zaria.
Dr John Ayuba, met with them to express his appreciation for the support and work they have been doing in supporting their plans to rescue and recover our dear kaduna state on behalf of his humble self, the PDP, his principal Rt Hon Isah Ashiru Kudan, and the entire rescue team.
